( AUSTIN, TX ) –Is your audience aware of what could be the worst disaster to strike mankind yet – our inability to find an effective alternative for oil before demand outstrips supply. Tom Mast, energy expert, who holds his MBA from Harvard Business School and has had a lifelong interest in energy, is dedicated to telling the public/consumers what they need to know now about this crisis.

Mast’s book Over A Barrel is intended to be read by any adult in less than two hours. “I wrote this book hoping that it will improve the chances that my grandchildren’s world 60 years from now will have some good alternatives for the four-fifths of the oil production that will be gone,” Mast comments.

Over A Barrel  succinctly covers all the key facts of the oil business, starting with a discussion of what energy is and the special role of oil as a source of energy. Mast also discusses the history of energy and how oil came to be so vital to transportation. Finally, Mast gives readers a glimpse of the harsh reality the world faces without energy alternatives, discusses a few well-known substitutes, and explains their technical, social, and environmental issues.

“The time has come to banish apathy and become more proactive in smoothing the transition from oil to alternatives,” Mast says. “ America can play a leadership role in developing and implementing alternatives to oil; we just need the political will.” With researchers predicting that in 60 years oil production will only be one-fifth of what it is today, every American knows we must find a solution.
